Police violence against protesters left two people dead.
A delegation from the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) arrived in Peru to investigate the police repression against protesters in past protests for the removal of the president, Martín Vizcarra.
The IACHR delegates were received by the Minister of Justice, Eduardo Vega Luna, who explained the actions and measures that the forces of order took in the past demonstrations, where two young people died and several people were injured.
The commission of the IACHR is led by the president of the organization, Joel Hernández, who will also be accompanied by the commissioner, Edgar Stuardo Rolón and other officials.
The Minister of Justice also commented that he delivered “all the documentation” that the Prosecutor’s Office had requested and with which the violent acts that occurred and the persons responsible for them will be established.
The IACHR delegation was also able to learn that the Peruvian government is working in the “best way” to repair the families affected by the events of the previous protests.
