Ecuador reports 720 new infections and 13 more deaths in the last 24 hours. This December 23, 2020, the country has 207.084 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 13.962 deaths due to the pandemic.
According to the Ministry of Health, 9.413 people died with a positive diagnosis. To this figure are added the 4.549 deaths that were probably caused by the respiratory virus.
At the national level, there are 444 stable hospitalizations and 361 with a reserved prognosis. In total, there are 805 interned in one day. While 84 more people were discharged from hospital.
The Minister of Health, Juan Carlos Zevallos, announced that hospital occupancy has been kept at controllable levels for several weeks. However, doctors from several health homes warned that, in December, there was an increase in hospitalized people.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the country has 181.618 recovered patients, which represents 88.05% of the total infected. This indication is updated every week and, in the week of 14 to 20 there were 3.667 more recovered.
Pichincha reports 159 new infections and three more deaths in the last 24 hours. In total, the province, the epicenter of the pandemic in the country, has 73.748 positive cases and 2.296 deaths. Quito adds 150 more infected and the total number of cases in the Ecuadorian capital rises to 67.966.
