The Ministry of Education asked all teachers in schools and colleges not to send any homework during these Christmas holidays and the end of the year. The state portfolio intends for these dates to be family bonding for both students and teachers.
Basic education students will be on vacation from December 25 to January 3, 2021. The statement requesting not to send homework is signed by the minister, Monserrat Creamer.
The minister believes that this should be a time of “rest” in the family environment for students and teachers. Most of the students in the country receive classes online, while some schools and colleges have implemented pilot plans for face-to-face activities.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Education also reported that more than 160.000 teachers will have to return to face-to-face sessions in January 2021. This return would be on different days and hours of the week. Teachers will have to work on strategies to avoid school dropout, which has not yet been calculated.
The National COE reported that students who were already attending face-to-face classes should return to their institutions on January 18, when the new measures end, in order to minimize the risk of contagion from Covid-19.
