Sputnik V is effective against new mutations of Covid-19

Its developers confirm that the Russian drug shows 96.2% effectiveness against Covid-19 and its new variants.

This Monday, December 21, 2020, the director of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF, for its acronym in English), Kiril Dmitriev, confirmed that the Russian vaccine against Covid-19, Sputnik V, is effective against the new strain of the virus. .

Dmitriev commented that the Russian vaccine against Covid-19 is still as effective against new strains of the virus, as with the previous ones already discovered. According to its developers, the Russian drug has shown great effectiveness in the short time it has been tested.

On the other hand, the Russian drug will also join with the one developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford, to carry out joint trials of the vaccines. Its creators believe that this union will give a more lasting projection to patients.

Sputnik V would reach an efficacy of 96.2% after the injection of the second dose, while the latest studies reveal that the drug developed by Oxford and AztraZeneca reaches 70% effectiveness.
