Ecuador registers 171.783 cases of COVID-19 and 12.730 deaths

Ecuador reports 350 new infections and 26 more deaths in the last 24 hours. Until this Thursday, November 5, a total of 171.783 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 12.730 deaths are reported due to the pandemic.

According to the Ministry of Health, 8.420 people died with a positive prognosis. To this figure are added the 4.310 deaths that were probably due to the virus.

After a slight decrease in hospital occupancy, an increase has been recorded since the previous week. There are 510 stable hospitalized patients and 338 with a reserved prognosis. In total, there are 848 hospitalized in one day, while 37 more people were discharged from hospital.

Since the pandemic began, the government report indicates that there are 149.048 recovered patients, which represents 88.09% of the total infected. In the week from October 26 to Sunday, November 1, there were 7.289 more recovered. This indicator is updated every Sunday.

Pichincha has 191 new infections and 2 more deaths. The province, the epicenter of the pandemic in the country, registers 60.180 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 2.036 deaths. Quito adds 88 more infected and the total number of diagnosed in the capital rises to 55.379.

Doctors and specialists warn that in the coming days the cases will increase, once the citizens who were infected during the holiday present symptoms. Authorities detected more than 5.000 agglomerations during the four days of the national holiday. In some cantons, such as Guayaquil, restrictive measures were again taken.
