President Lenín Moreno headed the list of leaders with the worst image in Latin America, according to the Legislative Directory

Only four leaders in Latin America have a positive image greater than 50%.

According to a study carried out by the Legislative Directory Organization on the ranking of the presidential image in Latin America, the first president of Ecuador, Lenín Moreno, heads the list of presidents with the greatest negative image in the region.

The survey reveals that Moreno has 90% negative image, compared to 7% positive image. While the Chilean president, Sebastián Piñera, is in second place with 70% negativity. Alejandro Giammattei, the first president of Guatemala, has 61% disapproval, among the presidents who top the ranking.

On the other hand, only four regional leaders surpass the 50% positive image, among which are: Nayib Bukele (El Salvador) with 92% approval; Luis Abinader (Dominican Republic) with 72%; Luis Lacalle Pou (Uruguay) with 58%; and President Andrés López Obrador (Mexico) with 54% positive image.

The report reveals that the image of some leaders strengthened at the beginning of the pandemic, between March and April, especially those who took more active positions in terms of prevention measures such as Iván Duque, in Colombia, Martín Vizcarra, in Peru, and Alberto Fernández , in Argentina.

The Legislative Directory Foundation is an independent organization that, for 10 years, has promoted the constitution of autonomous, flexible, democratic spaces through dialogue with various actors from the public and private sectors.
