The budget for the 2021 general elections suffered a cut of USD 23’256.541
The National Electoral Council (CNE) approved a budget of USD 91’060.644 for the electoral elections in October. At the beginning of the electoral process, the authorities spoke of a budget of USD 114’317.185 and even the Ministry of Economy suggested that it would be USD 83 million.
The president of the electoral body, Diana Atamaint, commented that this amount guarantees that the electoral process meets all the conditions and complies with each of the planned activities without affecting quality.
Atamaint said that to decide the reduction, working groups were held with a team from the Ministry of Economy and Finance thinking about the situation in the country.
In a statement, the CNE indicated that the reduction was also given by an agreement with the National Police for 2’039.08128. Another optimized item is 1’466.207,08 in the integration of the electoral package, while the services to be contracted with the National Telecommunications Corporation (CNT), the adjustment is USD 4’234.716,15 among others.
The electoral body also obtained agreements with executive institutions that will absorb certain services and products of the electoral process.
