Ecuador registers 543 new infections and 20 more deaths in the last 24 hours. This October 26, 2020, the country has a total of 162.178 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 12.573 deaths.
According to the Ministry of Health, 8.266 died with a positive diagnosis. To this figure is added the 4.307 deaths that were probably caused by the virus.
After several weeks with a slight decrease in hospital occupancy, this Monday an increase is reported. At the national level, there are 501 stable hospitalized patients and 370 with a reserved prognosis. There are 871 hospitalized in one day, while 29 more people were discharged from hospital, totaling 20.969 who left the Hospitals.
According to the report, the country has 141.759 recovered patients, which represents 87.70% of the total infected. In this last week, 7.572 new people were added who overcame the disease.
Pichincha reports 427 new infections and four more deaths in the last 24 hours. In total, there are 55.498 diagnosed and 1.999 deaths. Quito adds 401 new infected and the total number of cases in the Ecuadorian capital rises to 51.095.
Guayaquil registers an increase in the number of daily cases, after the holiday of October 9. There are 28 new cases in the last 24 hours and a total of 14.814 cases are reported. Doctors of the city asked to suspend the holidays that remain of the year to avoid further infections.
From the Mayor’s Office of Guayaquil, it was announced that there will be holidays, but with restrictions such as reduced capacity in restaurants, closure of the Malecón 2000, among other tourist sites.
