Two more presidential pairs were qualified by the Plenary of the National Electoral Council (CNE). Lucio Gutiérrez and David Norero, candidates for president and vice president, respectively, for the “Sociedad Patriótica” (PSP) Party (PSP), will be able to participate in the elections on February 7, 2021. As well as the Pedro Freile and Byron Solís binomial, from the “Amigo” Movement, a once the established requirements were met.
With them, there are six presidential candidacies that have been qualified to third in the general elections next year. The qualification of the “AMIGO” movement had two abstentions, by Enrique Pita and Luis Verdesoto, due to the relationship that this political organization would have with the former assemblyman investigated for alleged organized crime, Daniel Mendoza.
The four pairs described above are the pairs of the CREO-PSC alliance, the “Izquierda Democrática”, “Democracia Sí”, and “Ecuatoriano Unido” movements
On the other hand, it resolved to grant a 48-hour period to the Guillermo Celi – Verónica Sevilla pairing, from the “SUMA” Party, to remedy the breach of qualification requirements. The electoral authorities will know the legal reports again to resolve the qualification or not of that binomial.
In addition, the list of candidates for Andean parliamentarians of the Sí Democracia Movement was qualified by the electoral body. The resolution was taken once it was verified that the organization corrected the observations made during the session on October 5.
