Rain causes overflow of a stream in the Pomasqui sector

Manuel Córdova Galarza Avenue was turned into a river by the rain that fell in the capital.

The COE Quito reported the overflow of a stream located in the Señor del Arbol citadel, in the Pomasqui sector, due to the rain.

Photographs and videos of the accumulation of water in Av. Manuel Córdova Galarza circulate through social networks.

The rains caused flooding in the Pomasqui School and in the Pomasqui Plaza Shopping Center. In the latter, the water took over the subsoil and the first floor.

The ECU 911 has received more than 100 calls for emergencies, as of 16:00, this September 16. From Calderón, Llano Chico, Zabala, San Antonio de Pichincha, Pomasqui, Calacalí and Pedro Moncayo, says Juan Zapata, director of the emergency agency.

He points out that in Pomasqui, the Señor del Arbol citadel is the most affected place. The final balance will be in the next few hours, Zapata indicates.
