Carlos Rabascall, 59, is a 59-year-old journalist, economist and engineer born in the city of Guayaquil.
The Democratic Center party of Ecuador presented the journalist, Carlos Rabascall, as the replacement of the former president, Rafael Correa, to accompany Andrés Arauz in the formula of the progressive alliance Unión por la Esperanza (Unes) for the presidential elections of 2021.
During a press interview, Correa confirmed that, after “several consultations with the allies” the decision was made to choose the 59-year-old economist and engineer, born in Guayaquil, whom he described as a person “of great humanism, progressive and linked to the business sectors “.
Rabascall’s proposal became official hours later, in a Unes assembly in which the candidate thanked “those who understood that the unity of progressivism was possible and is a reality.” The decision was motivated by the disqualification of Correa’s candidacy for the Vice Presidency of Ecuador.
