Fausto Lupera filed the complaint against the president of the CNE for irregularities in the registration of AMIGO
The president of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Diana Atamaint, reported that she has not yet been notified due to the previous investigation that the Prosecutor’s Office initiated against her, and two other counselors, for alleged irregularities in the registration of the Amigo movement.
The Prosecutor’s Office opened this reserved investigation for a complaint about the alleged illegitimacy in the registry of Independent Mobilizing Action Generating Opportunities (Amigo), a political organization approved by the CNE in February of this year, with the votes of the three investigators: Atamaint, José Cabrera and Esthela Acero.
In her Twitter account, the president of the CNE said that it was accusations of “political overtones” that led to this investigation.
“I have nothing to hide,” said Atamaint, noting that the electoral function is focused on the next elections in February 2021.
Actors close to the ex-Morenoista assemblyman, Daniel Mendoza, – now under investigation for alleged organized crime – would have participated in the process to obtain the legal status of Amigo, which was initially called MejorEC, a name similar to the movement led by Mendoza, Mejor.
The AMIGO movement has even already elected its presidential bonimo: Pedro José Freile and Byron Solís.
