These statements are contrary to the thousands of complaints that Presidency and Secom have filed against digital media.
María Paula Romo said that she has no plans to initiate a legal process against the digital media that denounced its alleged participation in the distribution of hospitals and public entities. In the same way, she assured in the Government of President Moreno, no media or journalist has been persecuted for having a different editorial line.
In the first instance, Romo said that she hopes that all these issues will be clarified and that the truth will fall under its own weight when she no longer holds the position of Minister of Government, in the meantime she will not file legal actions against La Posta.
“Someday when all these issues pass and I am no longer Minister of Government, I hope that the participation that each one has had can be clarified. That is why I clarify that I have not sued any media or people despite the fact that they accuse me of crimes ”.
In the same way, she indicated that the Government never persecuted any opponent or media, because it is not an “authoritarian government.”
“The government is going to end in a few months and has not used justice to persecute any journalist, person or opponent.”
This contradicts thousands of complaints filed by the Presidency of the Republic and the Secretariat of Communication against digital media, administrative proceedings against public media and the closure of various media outlets in the last 3 and a half years.
Some of the portals that have denounced various attempts at closure and censorship are: Radio La Calle, Ruta Kritica, Ecuadorinmediato, 4 pelagatos, the Republic of Banana, Portal La Fuente and Portal La Historia EC.
To conclude, Minister Romo denied that President Moreno is managing a diplomatic post for her in the United States.
