Students will return to classes on September 1

Due to the pandemic, students will receive the subjects online, but compared to the previous year, at least 95,755 students are not enrolled.

Although they will not attend their educational establishments, 1 822 615 students from the Sierra-Amazonia regime will begin the new school year on September 1.

The school year will take place ‘online’ in two five-month periods. The first will be from September 1 to January 14, 2021 and the second from February 4 to June 30.

Through a statement, the Ministry of Education reported that students will return to classes through the Educational Plan “We learn together at home”, with which the Ministry of Education will continue the learning process.

A total of 6,473 public, private and municipal educational establishments will have the support of 99,982 teachers, who are in a position to implement the pedagogical model established by the State Portfolio, especially for those who do not have access to connectivity.

For this new cycle, the Ministry of Education has offered the possibility of expanding the educational offer with open and home education (homescholing). These services are intended to ensure access to the educational process of students and that parents can choose according to their needs.

On another issue, the entity announced that the extraordinary enrollment period will start from September 7, 2020 until January 14, 2021 and the process can be done through the website https://juntos.educacion.gob.ec/

The Ministry of Education would wait for these new revenues to have an exact figure of how many students in total will be enrolled for the 2020-2021 cycle, since 1,918,370 students were registered the previous year.

When this figure is compared with that which – at the moment – Education has, it is determined that 95,755 students would be absent to enroll and therefore it is unknown if they will continue their studies.
