TikTok sues Trump administration over US ban

The company’s lawsuit highlights that Trump’s executive order seeks to deprive the community of rights.

Representatives of the TikTok application sued the United States (US) Government on Monday in response to the enactment of the law that US President Donald Trump imposed to prohibit businesses or transactions with the popular social video application.

For its part, the parent company ByteDanc ensures that the executive order is not based on definitive evidence, or any that may sustain a legal challenge, so they have no choice but to challenge it through the judicial system.

In this sense, and after exhausting attempts to mediate a constructive solution with the Trump administration, TikTok spokesman Josh Gartner stated in a statement that the enactment of the law against the application of social videos in the US represents “a lack of due process, since the administration did not pay attention to the facts and tried to insert itself in the negotiations between private companies.”
