Wisconsin police ordered a curfew until 7:00 am this Monday, to calm the demonstrations and riots in the state.
This Sunday, August 23, 2020, in the American city of Kenosha, State of Wisconsin, there were several protests by civilians against the state police, for a new case of violence.
The riots broke out after two police officers were reported to have fired seven shots at an unarmed black man. The man was walking towards his vehicle and when he opened the car door, the uniformed officers fired. The victim, Jacob Blake, was hospitalized and remains in serious condition.
At the demonstrations, civilians threw bricks and Molotov cocktails at a courthouse. Looting and fires were also recorded at the site. Wisconsin authorities established a curfew until 7:00 am (local time) this Monday.
The police shooting against the civilian took place at 17:00 on Sunday, while the uniformed men were covering a domestic incident. The Wisconsin police department reported that the uniformed men involved in the incident are on administrative leave.
The governor of Wisconsin, Tony Evers, through his twitter condemned this terrible incident, which unleashes new waves of protests in the United States. “We oppose excessive use of force and immediate escalation when it comes to black Wisconsinites,” he wrote.
