Judge denies postponement of Trump’s tax return

The US federal judge of the Southern District Court of New York, Víctor Marrero, denied last Thursday the request of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, in which he requested the postponement of his tax return.

Marrero’s decision had been appealed this week by the US president’s lawyers. This request was then brought before the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

As a result of this, the United States Supreme Court had returned the case to Marrero for him to analyze it, along with other requirements that Trump’s lawyers had presented.

In the final 103-page document, issued by Marrero last Thursday, it is argued that the request by Trump’s lawyers is “unprecedented.”

“It is as transcendental as it is dangerous for the rule of law and other fundamental constitutional principles on which the country was founded,” argued the judge of the Southern District Court of New York.

The US federal judge’s sentence concludes by saying that “the Clerk of the Court is ordered to rescind any motion and close this case.”

The origin of this litigation takes place when last July, the district attorney of Manhattan, Cyrus Vance Jr., had ordered President Donald Trump to make public his tax declaration.

With Marrero’s decision, an extensive legal litigation in which the US president has tried not to make public, or at least postpone, the tax return is ended.
