Ecuador is close to 100.000 infected
Ecuador reports 1.233 new infections and 32 more deaths in the last 24 hours. It is the second consecutive day that more than a thousand infected have been registered. In total, this August 13, 2020 there are 98.343 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 9.561 deaths due to this pandemic.
According to the Ministry of Health, 98.343 infected are registered, of which 89.387 were confirmed with a PCR test. In addition, 6.010 people died with a positive prognosis. To this figure, add the 3.545 deaths that would have been probably due to the virus.
This Thursday, the country reports a peak of 922 stable hospitalized and 355 with a reserved prognosis. In total, there are 1.277 hospitalized patients, being the day with the most hospitalizations since the pandemic began. While 70 people were discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours.
The report indicates that, in one day, there were 3.499 calls to 171 related to COVID-19, of which 57 were referred for attention in first-level health centers.
The number of recovered patients is 66.099. This indicator is updated every Sunday and they are those who have been admitted to the surveillance system with at least one positive RT-PCR test, at least 29 days have passed since the date of onset of symptoms and are alive.
Pichincha reports 479 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 3 more deaths in the last 24 hours. In total, the province with the most infections nationwide, registers 19.536. Quito adds 453 new infections and the number of cases in the Ecuadorian capital rises to 17.685.
The day before, the Minister of Health, Juan Carlos Zevallos, mentioned in a television interview that there is stability in infections, particularly in Pichincha, but it is also seen throughout the country. Although the capacity for care, in beds, is at the top, no patient has been stopped, said the official.
