Different sectors of workers gathered outside the Presidential Palace in Quito to protest against the economic measures and the lack of response of the Government to the health, economic and social crisis.
Health workers complained about the lack of supplies and the non-payment of their wages.
“They owe thousands of dollars and they don’t care about our lives,” said one of the protesters.
After noon, some citizens went to the Plaza Grande, which was surrounded with metal fences to prevent them from entering and approaching the Carondelet Palace.
The protest was also attended by public officials who were fired during these months of the pandemic and criticized the optimization process carried out by the Government of President Lenín Moreno to cut the size of the State.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, protests have been continuous to demand, above all, the payment owed in different sectors. From local governments, doctors, retirees, teachers, university students, sports federations and others.
Yesterday, postgraduate doctors in several provinces demanded, once again, their corresponding payments, as well as compliance with the Humanitarian Law.
“From heroes to not receiving our payments,” said one of the protesters in Cuenca.
