Ecuadorian government asks for support from the South Pacific to deal with the situation of the Chinese fishing fleet

Foreign ministers of China and Ecuador are looking for a solution to the problem.

The presence of a fishing fleet of Asian origin near the Galapagos Islands motivated the reaction of the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry that called a meeting of the South Pacific to analyze this issue.

In an interview on a television channel, Foreign Minister Luis Gallegos confirmed the talks with the Chinese government, in the presence of the fleet of 260 fishing vessels.

In a context, in which there is also talk of the reactivation of the sale of Ecuadorian shrimp to that country, after the impasse generated by the alleged presence of coronaviruses.

Gallegos said that the relationship with China is similar to that with other countries such as the United States and the European Union. In other words, they are important markets for the country, which is why constructive dialogues are required and what better to do with the members of the South Pacific.
