IACHR will review the Ecuadorian Government’s failure to comply with precautionary measures in favor of Jorge Glas

The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) and representatives of the Government of Ecuador will hold a telematic meeting on July 30 to verify compliance with the precautionary measures in favor of the former Vice President of the Republic, Jorge Glas.

This human rights organization issued precautionary measures in favor of Glas for his medical condition and for the high vulnerability that his life would have, since he currently has a high exposure disease and a high risk of contagion from coronavirus in the Latacunga Prison.

The defense of the former vice president indicated that this July 30 the IACHR will know all the abuses of the Ecuadorian State and its lack of action will be evidenced for not granting the precautionary measures that were requested.

Likewise, the jurists who take the Glas case indicated that the IACHR considers that the precautionary measures in favor of the former vice president meet the scoop and the requirements of gravity, urgency and irreparability, contained in Article 25 of its Regulations.

On the other hand, politicians from other countries also spoke on this issue and indicated that the Ecuadorian State must respond to the IACHR, since the precautionary measures have not been complied with and, on the contrary, the violations have increased.
