Prosecutor’s Office investigates whether there was alleged external financing to provoke chaos during demonstrations.
The Prefect of Pichincha Paola Pabon was transferred to the Cotopaxi Social Rehabilitation Center. The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) began an investigation against her for the alleged crime of rebellion.
The National Service of Integral Attention to Persons Deprived of Liberty confirmed that the Prefect was transferred Tuesday afternoon after her court hearing announced the disciplinary charges she’s facing. Prosecutor’s Office investigates her “for the criminal acts registered during the protests of days ago.” The fiscal instruction will last 90 days.
The judge said that the Prosecutor’s Office presented “enough elements of conviction” and ordered the preventive detention against her. The facts respond to the demonstrations that took place for 11 days nationwide against the economic measures announced by President Lenin Moreno.
