Minister of Health proposes the return of LigaPro in tribute to Guayaquil

The National COE must analyze this approach.

With the return to the new normality due to the coronavirus, the Minister of Public Health, Juan Carlos Zevallos, announced that he will propose to the Committee of National Emergency Operations (COE) to authorize the resumption of tournaments of the Professional Soccer League (LigaPro) for July 25. This as a tribute to Guayaquil for the 485 years of the Foundation.

The announcement was made by Zeballos on a radio in the Main Port and added that the resumption should take place under strict sanitary security measures.

The minister recognized that Guayaquil is a city that suffered from the coronavirus health crisis and that the return of the national soccer championship would be a tribute. But he clarified that the entrance of the public to the stadiums is not yet defined.

At the moment, LigaPro aims for the competition to restart on July 17, but is still awaiting the approval of the protocols by the COE.

Miguel Ángel Loor, president of the soccer entity, reported that the documentation was presented last Monday.

The tournament has been stopped due to the pandemic since March 14.
