In Quito, 70 critically ill patients are on the waiting list to be cared for in intensive care

Quito has changed from mandatory isolation to social distancing since June 3, and cases of coronavirus have increased.

Quito registers 165 new infections of coronavirus in the last 24 hours. This is the highest number since the pandemic began. Hospitals are working to the limit of their capacity. There are 70 critically ill patients waiting to enter the intensive care unit until this Wednesday, June 24, 2020.

Quito is the city with the most daily registered cases nationwide.

The report of the Ministry of Health indicates that today there were 165 new cases, on Tuesday, June 23, 101, on Monday, June 22, 118, on Sunday, June 21, 128, on Saturday, June 20, 129 cases.

In total, there are 5,912 infected with COVID-19 and until this June 23, 424 died from the pandemic.

The attention in the Intensive Care Units (ICU) and hospitalization of the health centers that treat cases of coronavirus is on the limit. The IESS del Sur Hospital registers more than 400 hospitalized patients, between mild, moderate and severe.

Today there are 70 critically ill patients who are waiting to be transferred to intensive care for complications in their health, but the beds are full.

National authorities have announced the expansion of ICU beds for patient care.

On June 3, when Quito went from mandatory isolation to social distancing, 3,842 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were registered.

Today there are 5,912 cases. In other words, 3,582 infections increased in 21 days after opening the city.
