Reduction of the number of windows caused discomfort at the SRI in Guayaquil

The citizens asked that the hours of operation be modified to process the inheritance tax requested by the banks to the relatives of those who have recently died.

A row that turned to the Internal Revenue Service (SRI) building, in the north of Guayaquil, was evident this Tuesday, June 2.

From 4:00, hundreds of people gathered outside the SRI headquarters to carry out various procedures.

The people who were in the first positions had to have breakfast on the floor. One person even passed out while waiting.

The complaints were intense because the attention began only at 10:30 and some people did not respect the social distancing, so the police personnel had to intervene.

The citizens demanded that the hours of operation be modified because in some cases they want to process the inheritance and legacy tax, requested by the banks from the relatives of those who have recently died.

The entity indicated that it is the only agency that is active and can only serve up to half the capacity, due to the measures implemented by the cantonal COE.

Normally, this agency served an average of 1,200 people a day, but of the 44 windows available now only 22 are open.
