With red flags and Ecuadorian flags, members of the Unitary Confederation of Minority Merchants and Autonomous Workers of Ecuador (Cucomitae) protested this Thursday, May 14, outside the Carondelet palace, to demand the application of COVID-19 tests to traveling merchants. of markets and shopping centers.

Taking the appropriate distance, using gloves and masks, citizens, also, demanded the delivery of food kits, as well as the provision of biosafety supplies such as anti-fluid suits, masks and gloves to avoid the spread of the virus.

This claim was formalized in a letter sent to the President of the Republic, Lenín Moreno, in which the Cucomitae expressed all these concerns and demanded guarantees for traveling merchants.

They also requested that they be granted for three months a USD100 bonus for retail merchants and have access to credits of between USD500 and USD5000 at 1% interest and with a 4-year term, to reactivate their businesses.
