According to the Ministry of Education, more than 200 robberies have been registered since the health emergency began.
A total of 261 robberies have been registered in educational establishments during the coronavirus health emergency, according to information from the Ministry of Education.
Ana Ponce, rector of the Carlos Mora Peñafiel fiscal educational unit, located in Socio Vivienda 2, in the northwest of Guayaquil, reported that the institution has been assaulted more than five times during the health emergency.
He commented that in 62 days computers, toilets and even wheelchairs used by students with disabilities have been taken away. The losses would amount to USD 5,000.
The Ministry of Education indicated that robberies have occurred more frequently in the provinces of El Oro, Loja, Zamora Chinchipe and Guayas.
Between Guayaquil, Daule and Samborondón, in Guayas, 102 robberies were recorded since the Government declared the emergency.
For the National Police, this type of crime is not carried out by criminal gangs, but by people from the same sectors.
