Priority care groups will be able to quarantine at home. The rest of the compatriots after seven days may request a COVID-19 test from the Ministry of Health.
Starting this May 13, a new protocol will apply so that Ecuadorians and residents of the country who come as returnees can carry out their mandatory preventive isolation (APO) as part of the measures taken in the face of the health emergency by COVID-19.
One of the most important provisions is that people from five priority care groups will be able to isolate themselves in their own homes, as announced by the Foreign Ministry.
The priority attention groups are: Boys, girls and adolescents (up to 18 years old), and their companions; pregnant women and their companions; people with disabilities (with CONADIS card) and their companions; people with catastrophic illnesses or requiring specialized care or attention, and their companions; and, older adults (over 65 years) and their companions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs specified that people who are not part of the aforementioned priority groups must comply with the APO in accommodation places identified by the competent authority, such as hotels.
Another of the actions to be taken into account is that people who are in isolation, after seven days, may request a test for the coronavirus from the Ministry of Public Health and, if it is negative, they may request authorization to leave for their homes and fulfill in those places the rest of the quarantine. But for this, they must commit to comply, otherwise they will face legal action.
