CAL approves the removal of officials of the National Assembly

There are 20 workers from the 5 Occasional Commissions that will stop working

The Council of the Legislative Administration (CAL) approved a resolution in which the contracts of 20 officials of the occasional legislative commissions cease on May 31, 2020, with some exceptions.

According to memorandum No. AN-SG-2020-0449-M, the CAL carries out a reform to the regulations of the permanent and occasional specialized commissions.

In their only transitory provision they provide that the hiring of the Rapporteur Prosecretaries, Level 1 Advisers and Administrative Assistants of the occasional specialized commissions will cease on May 31.

In the Legislative there are five Occasional Legislative Tables:

Occasional Commission For monitoring the Transportation Law
Occasional Commission to Handle Cases of Missing Persons
Occasional Commission to monitor the State’s compliance with Retirees
Occasional Commission to Address Issues and Norms on Childhood and Adolescence
Occasional Commission for the Treatment of Draft Constitutional Amendments
In each there is a deputy reporting secretary, two level 1 assistants, and an administrative assistant, who can work until the end of the month.

The occasional service contracts signed by pregnant or lactating women will be the exception and will continue in their positions, as well as for people with disabilities or who are responsible for the maintenance of a person with disabilities.

The decision of the Assembly is framed in a triple crisis that the country is going through: economic, health and social, in which several public entities, companies and businesses have had to lay off personnel, increasing the unemployment rate.
