The entity implemented 164 judicial units to deal with this type of case nationwide.

The Judicial Council (CJ) authorized 164 judicial units to deal with flagrant cases of violence against women and members of the family nucleus, during the health emergency due to the coronavirus.

Between March 16 and 30, 225 flagrances were reported in the country for this type of event, that is, almost 15 cases a day.

Of the total number of cases handled, 200 are violations that are dealt with by an expedited procedure in a single hearing. The remaining 25 correspond to crimes and are evacuated by direct or ordinary procedure. In 78% of cases that were admitted, the judges granted protection measures to the victim.

If someone is a victim of violence, they should call 911 and report the fact. This emergency system activates immediate attention, which includes sending a police unit and, in the event of a flagrant case, taking the aggressor and transferring him to the judicial office.

To find out which judicial units are handling these cases in each province, citizens must enter the website of the Council of the Judiciary and access the Protection Measures section COVID-19, which will display a directory with information on the different dependencies.
