Government created a category to include possible deaths of Covid-19

The Ministry of Health has accounted for possible deaths from coronaviruses, which apparently were not confirmed by diagnostic tests.

In Ecuador, those who die from the Covid-19 outbreak are registered daily in the Emergency Operations Committee (COE) and the Ministry of Public Health (MSP), but, within this panorama, since the weekend, It began with the count of people who presumably died from this pandemic, and that the tests were not carried out or they were not decisive.

The figures recorded in the last newsletter of the COE, this Monday, March 30, 2020, at 5:00 p.m., describe that there are 62 deaths from the virus and to these there are 46 alleged deaths from the coronavirus.

According to Inti Quevedo, who is a doctor and a Master in Public Health, indicates that this “new category is healthy”, in addition “it is important that the Ministry of Health review the death certificates in the databases of the National Institute of Statistics and Census due to viral pneumonias, which fall into this category and not lose this data ”.

In the same way, she insists on the need for the public authorities to specify a collection site for the bodies, with the corresponding standards such as: refrigeration, in order to avoid a source of contagion from other diseases; and for dignity above all.
