Cuba: health authorities discharge the first patient recovered from coronavirus

The first case occurred in a 25-year-old person and several tourists, who will return to their respective countries when they are discharged.

At a press conference, health authorities of Cuba reported that a patient infected with Covid-19 was released.

He is a resident of Villa Clara, who was diagnosed with the disease on March 16, was the first case of a 25-year-old Cuban, husband of a Bolivian woman who had returned from Italy, the two entered the health system when presenting symptoms respiratory.

Both were admitted to the military hospital of that province, which from that moment the surveillance system was activated, for their subsequent transfer to the Cuban Institute of Tropical Medicine Pedro Kourí (IPK), in Havana.

The patient tested positive for Covid-19 after the rigorous tests, and after days he maintained a favorable evolution, according to official diagnoses.

This discharged patient continues to be in isolation for 14 days, under daily medical supervision.

Yesterday, Monday, March 23, a television program reported the discharge of some patients, including foreign tourists, who may return to their countries of origin.

From Cuba, 48 positive cases are reported, two in critical condition and one serious, while 1,229 people, of whom 531 are suspects, are admitted as part of the epidemiological surveillance and control implanted in the country to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
