The national coordinator of Pachakutik (PK), Marlon Santi, considers that a large part of public servants are affected by what he considers to be a package from the National Government, chaired by Lenín Moreno.
Among the measures announced by the president to face the economic crisis are the elimination of the Youth Secretariat, four regulatory and control agencies, three institutes and three public companies, four technical secretariats and the Public Media Company. In other words, the employees of these entities will be out of work.
Santi regretted that the head of state has not accepted the alternative proposals presented by CONAIE, drawn up by social organizations, which, in his opinion, have not been taken seriously by the Executive.
It considers that the approaches of the social groups would allow a real transformation in the country and the equitable redistribution of wealth.
He insisted that, once again, the most affected by government measures are the poorest in the country, who can barely survive on a basic family basket that exceeds the basic salary.
Santi believes that actions should be taken in the future to face the decisions announced by President Moreno. Precisely, to define those actions, the leaders and the bases of the CONAIE and Pachakutik, its political arm, will meet this Thursday, March 12, 2020.
The PK leader protested what he thinks is mistreatment and stigmatization of the indigenous movement, by wealthy people and also by citizens of the same social level as indigenous people, after the protests in October.
