According to the de facto Minister of the Presidency, he pointed out that this measure will allow “the necessary funds to be expedited” to meet the contingency
After a meeting between the rulers and mayors of the entire country, on Wednesday March 11, 2020, the de facto Government of Bolivia declared a national emergency due to the spread of the coronavirus worldwide.
The de facto Minister of the Presidency, Yerko Núñez, reported that they made this decision after meeting with governors and mayors from all over the country to coordinate joint actions.
Nuñez clarified that these measures “will make it possible to expedite the funds necessary to stop the virus and simultaneously attend to any contingent that may arise.”
According to the minister, border closures have not been considered, however, the authorities will take some preventive measures to detect suspected cases of contagion, such as voluntary isolation for people arriving from other countries.
This Tuesday, March 10, the authorities confirmed two first cases of this pandemic in two women, 60 and 65 years old, from Italy, who returned to the departments of Oruro and Santa Cruz with some symptoms of COVID-19.
