Government of Ecuador and indigenous movement seek mechanisms to reduce the price of some products

This Tuesday, August 2, 2022, the third day of Table 3 was installed, between the Government and the indigenous movement, which deals with Price Control.

Aspects on the referential prices and support of basic necessities with some of the topics discussed.

The Board is chaired by the Minister of Government, Francisco Jiménez, with the participation of the Minister of Production, Agriculture, Arcotel, SENAE, INEC, SRI and representatives of CONAIE, FEINE and FENOCIN.

“We will look for mechanisms based on the criteria of the government plan. We are going to make sensible decisions and seek to take care of the pockets of those who have the least”, said the Minister of Government, Francisco Jiménez.

The day before, the indigenous movement applauded the presidential decree so that the Governments exercise control over prices. However, they pointed out that there is no reference price for this control. For this reason, they proposed that prices be fixed to avoid the increase in product costs.
