Colombian President Gustavo Petro today rejected the murder of journalists Dilia Contreras and Léiner Montero, in the department of Magdalena.
I asked the Attorney General’s Office for an urgent investigation to find those responsible for this crime because, in Colombia, the press must have guarantees to do its job”, the head of state said through his Twitter account.
He also emphasized that he asked the country’s Minister of Defense, Iván Velásquez, to guarantee the protection of the lives of Colombians throughout the country.
“Colombia cannot be the country of massacres, that history of blood must be left behind”, the Colombian president vehemently stressed when referring to this fact and other massacres perpetrated in recent days in several areas of the nation.
This Sunday, Léiner Montero Ortega, director of the radio media Sol Digital Stereo, and Dilia Contreras, who worked in Impacto Stereo and in the web Bocina, were shot dead in the municipality of Fundación, in the department of Magdalena.
Both were traveling in a car in the early hours of the morning after covering the Santa Rosa de Lima festivities, when they were surprised by two armed men who shot repeatedly at the occupants, killed the journalists and left another person wounded.
