Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court (TSE), after starting the campaign on August 16, received 2,625 complaints of irregular propaganda, an average of 218 per day until last Saturday, it was learned.
The portal R7 ensures that the Gorral application was created by the court in 2014 and aims to receive complaints about vote buying, abuse of economic and political power, use of the public machine for electoral purposes and misuse of social media.
It appears as the state with the most complaints Pernambuco, with 389, followed by São Paulo (314). The federal state with the fewest accusations is Alagoas, with five records for the application.
Allegations were also gathered in the case of the two favorite candidates in polls for the presidency: former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the ultra-right-wing leader Jair Bolsonaro.
According to R7, from representations made from August 16 to 25, Bolsonaro, the Liberal Party’s standard-bearer, has at least 100 complaints, 87 of which were registered through Gorral.
In the case of Lula, candidate of the Workers’ Party, 10 complaints were notified, most of them (6) for stickers, banners, posters or banners. The first round of the consultation will take place on October 2, when 156,454,011 Brazilians will go to the polls.
