Mass events are authorized in Guayaquil, but not in Babahoyo

The measure will allow the Libertadores Cup match between Barcelona and Independiente del Valle to be held with an audience.

The authorities authorized the realization of massive events in the city of Guayaquil, after last Saturday they were suspended due to the appearance of the first case of the coronavirus in Ecuador. While, in Babahoyo, the ban is maintained.

In his Twitter account, the Minister of Government, María Paula Romo, reported this Tuesday, March 3, that after consulting with the Ministry of Health and specialized agencies, as well as knowing the situation of the 177 people who are under observation because they had contact with the first case, that decision was taken.

Romo insisted that the measures will be evaluated according to the evolution of cases of contagion and that for now it affects six people, all of them within the same environment.

The Ministry of Health informed on Monday, March 2 that there are already seven confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country.

“The last case corresponds to a person who maintained contact with the first carrier of the disease,” said the official.

The governor of the province of Guayas, Pedro Pablo Duart, said that with the authorization of mass events in Guayaquil, on Wednesday, March 4, the match of the Copa Libertadores between Barcelona and Independiente del Valle will be disputed with the public.

“Only on us depends on reducing the possibility of infection. Preventive measures are necessary for all activity, ”he said.
