Serbia is receiving Russian gas supplies smoothly

CEO of the Serbiagaz company, Dusan Bajatović, on Thursday said that his country is receiving Russian gas supplies entirely and without interruptions, the Tanjug agency reported in this capital.

The supply is going smoothly. The Russian company Gazprom is supplying gas to Serbia as agreed. Now we have more than enough and are filling underground warehouses to full capacity, the official confirmed.

Gazprom began distributing gas to Serbia on January 1, through a new route.

It is currently transported from Russia through the Turkish Stream high-sea gas pipeline to reach Turkish territory. Then, through the Bulgarian national gas transmission system, it enters Serbia.

Gazprom sent notice to Bulgarian and Polish importing companies on April 26 that it would cut off gas supplies to them the following day, due to their refusal to make final payments in Russian rubles.

On March 23, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered that hostile countries must pay for gas exports in rubles.

He said that Russia would refuse to accept payments under such contracts in currencies such as dollars and euros.
