The commission appointed to evaluate the management of the president of the National Assembly of Ecuador, Guadalupe Llori, will elect its authorities as a step prior to starting work.
Said election has been set for the afternoon of this day, once the team has established the roadmap to define if Llori breached her duties as indicated by a complaint against her.
According to Pedro Zapata, of the Christian Social Party, the commission has 35 days to carry out the review, which could lead to the dismissal of Llori, but the idea is to do the work in an accelerated manner.
The complaint against Llori was filed by Assemblyman Esteban Torres based on several arguments, among them, that it did not give way to an appeal to the presidency in session 766 on last February 24th. He also said that she did not reinstate sessions 766 and 759 within the established 30-day period, thereby failing to comply with article 129 of the Organic Law of the Legislative Function.
In the opinion of Torres, who considered the situation in Parliament unsustainable, the official should resign.
Llori filed protection actions that were granted by a court in an attempt to defend herself and avoid the formation of the evaluation team.
