Government owes more than USD $ 14 million to Pichincha Prefecture

The prefect, Paola Pabón, said that this amount owed means 15% of the operating budget of the province of Pichincha.

Paola Pabón demanded that the Government of President Lenín Moreno pay the amounts owed to the province for different items, including the VAT refund and the irrigation competition.

With the due time, said the Prefect, “53 value-added centers could be built, one in each Pichincha parish generating employment and productivity, improving 43 km of roads or maintaining 6000 km of asphalt.”

Pabón said they asked the BDE, President Moreno “to return our resources.” She said there are more than USD $ 11 million for 2019 VAT debt, more than USD $ 1 million for irrigation. While for the VAT refund of 2017 and 2018 they are about USD $ 1.7 million.

She said it was a “tease to the GADs”, the act carried out in Guayaquil because the government proposed to sign another agreement for the 2019 debt, although the corresponding to 2017 and 2018 is not yet paid.

“They will not give us the money and they have to return those resources that are from Pichincha,” she said.

These USD $ 14 million owed represent 15% of the province’s operating budget, Pabón said.

In addition, she criticized that the Government offered the delivery of the money, “whenever it is destined to irrigation and roads. Why do they have to close the competitions? ” she questioned.

With a view to the presidential elections of 2021, the Prefect said that the first option for the ballot is former President Rafael Correa. In addition, he made it clear that he will be prefect until 2023; that is, it would not participate in the next elections.
