The Minister of Economy and Finance, Simón Cueva, met with a World Bank (WB) mission that is visiting Ecuador.
The objective was to analyze technical information that allows it to prepare the Country Economic Memorandum (CEM) and move forward with the budget support operation that the agency will provide to the country.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the mission, which will be in the country until Thursday, April 28, plans to meet with the technical teams of the Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investment and Fisheries, the Central Bank of Ecuador, the Secretariat National Planning, of the Superintendencies of Banks and Companies, Securities and Insurance, among others.
“The World Bank is one of the main multilateral organizations that has supported Ecuador’s economic program with financing under beneficial conditions. So far during the period of the current government, it has disbursed more than USD 1,000 million to the country to promote social protection projects, vaccination against COVID-19, financing of the General State Budget and local development projects of decentralized autonomous governments ” says the statement.
The World Bank delegation visiting Ecuador is made up of Doerte Doemeland, manager of the Macroeconomics, Trade and Investment Practice for Latin America and the Caribbean; Christian Yves González, Senior Economist; Juan Carlos Álvarez, resident representative of the organization in Ecuador.
