The United States lowered its travel alert for Ecuador to level 2

The Government of the United States lowered the category of Ecuador from level 3 to 2, within its travel alerts.

In the month of January, Ecuador, like the rest of the world, was placed in category 4 due to the outbreak of the Omicron variant. However, for the month of March the alert dropped to 3, and today it drops to category 2, along with Bolivia, Uruguay, Brazil and Chile.

“The travel alerts are recommendations issued by the governments of each country, and currently they are directed more to the epidemiological situation of each nation,” indicated the Ministry of Tourism

Ecuador is at the green level in the United Kingdom, Spain and France; at yellow level, in Germany and in Canada. In the latter country, all nations remained in the red level due to the effect of COVID-19.

“This change in US travel alerts means important news that drives the entry of North American travelers, which in 2021 totaled 269,673 people, which meant nearly double the arrivals of 2020.”

This year, cut to March, US travelers who have arrived in the country already total 83,716. This figure is located at nine percentage points to reach the arrivals registered in 2019 from this destination.
