The National COE, this Friday, April 1, 2022, analyzed the condition of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ecuador, through a press conference.

The Minister of Health, Ximena Garzón, pointed out that there will be doses for people who want to get a fourth vaccine against the coronavirus. This new dose will be for people who have applied the third dose five months ago.

The Minister, at another point, added that the indicators of infections, positivity, hospital occupation or deaths continue to decline throughout the country.

The Minister of Education, María Brown, and the president of the National COE, Juan Zapata, also participated in the press conference. Brown thus pointed out that the start of the new school year is expected for the coastal regime, with a capacity of 100%, within public and private institutions.

Garzón also indicated that eight cases of the new Omicron variant were detected. However, there have been no changes in the epidemiological behavior. “We don’t have to worry about this sublineage,” she said.
