Activists on Sunday denounced the burning of houses of peasants and indigenous people in the village of El Triunfo, Caqueta, and the indigenous cabildo La Esperanza, San Vicente del Caguan, by Colombian police and soldiers.
According to the complaints, the act took place in the context of Operation Artemisa, a campaign against deforestation, they said.
Reinaldo Quebrada, legal representative of the indigenous cabildo La Esperanza, said that on Saturday night members of the army and the police incinerated and detonated explosive charges in the house of two comraides in the aforementioned territories.
He added that there are five people missing from the indigenous cabildo La Esperanza and that is why they asked the competent authorities to try to locate them.
Among the denouncers are also senators Feliciano Valencia of the Indigenous and Social Alternative Movement, and Julian Gallo of the Partido Comunes.
