At least 13 Syrian army soldiers, including officers, were killed and 18 others were wounded in an attack by the terrorist organization Islamic State (Daesh in Arabic) in eastern Syria.
At around 13:00 local time, a military transport bus was targeted in a terrorist attack in which different types of weapons were used east of the Third Oil Plant complex in Palmyra municipality in the desert area of al-Badiya, the Defense Ministry stated in a press release.
A similar attack took place early last January, killing at least five regulars while 20 others were wounded.
According to verified data and allegations, U.S. forces illegally present in the al-Tanef area in eastern Syria provide logistical support, protection and intelligence information to terrorists to attack the Syrian army and its allies and civilian communities in the vast desert of this Arab nation.
In turn, operations officers revealed that Daesh cells are especially active in the southern and eastern areas of Deir Ezzor and Homs provinces, as these territories are geographically connected to al-Tanef where the extremists seek protection after perpetrating their attacks.
According to analysts, since its defeat in 2018, Daesh resorts to gang warfare and attacks on the basis of clear intelligence instructions to wear down Syrian troops and their allies.
