The Ecuadorian Foreign Minister, Juan Carlos Holguín, confirmed the first humanitarian flight to bring back Ecuadorians from Poland.
The flight will be for Monday, February 28, although neither the schedule nor the city from which this plane will depart have yet been specified.
“We have contacted students and parents for their organization,” said the chancellor.
There are about 700 Ecuadorians in Ukraine, most of them students. On a first flight, before Russia’s military intervention in Ukraine, less than 40 Ecuadorians decided to leave the country.
Now several compatriots have left Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, currently under attack by Russian forces, heading for the border with Poland. Although there were alerts that they were prevented from leaving Ukraine, not only Ecuadorians, the national authorities contacted the officials of that country and reached a new agreement to allow the passage of citizens.
In addition, those who are or arrive in the city of Lviv will be able to identify officials with the country’s emblems and be able to board trains to Poland.
