(Prensa Latina) Former senator and humanitarian activist Piedad Cordoba denounced this morning the new campaign orchestrated against her and demanded full guarantees for the next elections in Colombia and to exercise her right to do politics.
In a press release, she stressed that, in view of the serious economic, political and moral crisis Colombia is going through and after the 2021 social outburst, the victory of the Historic Pact in 2022 is becoming unattainable by the ordinary methods used by those in power.
She warned that in the fear of losing their privileges, old recipes reappeared to snatch or tarnish this triumph of millions of compatriots, such as threats of assassination, electoral fraud, legal warfare and media lynching against those who make up this government alternative.
“I am a woman, black and leftist, committed to total peace and Latin American integration. I have never hidden my opinions or political sympathies, but this does not guarantee that those who have been enemies of my social banners can cut off my right to do politics”, remarked the candidate to Congress.
She assured that she has not committed any crime and on the contrary, she gave all her political career to conquer peace and social changes.
“I earned my right to do politics in a sexist, racist and right-wing country, over attacks, kidnappings, legal proceedings and dismissals. That is why now I will not give up to continue in the democratic struggle from the Congress of the Republic and from the government coalition of the Historical Pact”, she stressed.
