China delivers some 500 tons of food to Afghanistan

(Prensa Latina) China has delivered about 500 tons of food to Afghanistan, as part of Beijing’s humanitarian support to the people of that devastated country due to war, it was reported in Kabul on Monday.

The aid contains sugar, wheat, cooking oil and potato-processing machines, Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan Wang Yu told Pajhwok news agency.

The diplomat wrote on Twitter: “Today, a train with about 500 tons of wheat, sugar, cooking oil and potato-processing machines provided by China left Xinjiang.”

Early next month, another train with wheat, among other products, will also start its journey, while China is fully committed to helping the Afghan people, Wang stated.

Since the Taliban’s takeover in Afghanistan, this Central Asian nation is in desperate need of international assistance.
