President of Ecuador travels to China

The president of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, and a delegation of eight members travel to China to renegotiate the debt with this country.

Through Executive Decree 338, the President delegated the entourage that will accompany him on his trip. It is made up of five ministers, among whom are: Juan Carlos Holguín (foreign minister); Julio José Prado (Minister of Production); Simón Cueva (Minister of Finance); Ximena Garzón (Minister of Health).

Likewise, the president will be accompanied by his wife, María de Lourdes Alcívar, Roberto Salas, technical secretary of Public-Private Partnerships, Fernando Conde, head of Security for the president and Karla Abarca, head of Security for the president’s wife.

In addition, the Undersecretary General of the Presidential Office and the Undersecretary of Protocol and Ceremonial make up the support delegation.

In that country, Lasso and the delegation will attend bilateral meetings on diplomatic and foreign trade issues, with the Government of the People’s Republic of China. Likewise, it will seek to renegotiate the debt, which amounts to USD 4,600 million.

The decree signed by Lasso clarifies that travel expenses and other expenses required by these trips will be covered by the budgets of the institutions represented by the members of the entourage.
